Skill Levels Policy
Purpose
This policy helps teams select the most appropriate division when registering for an Urban Rec league.
While every league is differe
nt, the descriptions below provide a general guide to the skill level and experience typically found in each division.
Recreational
Recreational leagues are designed for beginners, casual players and teams looking for a relaxed social experience.
Teams will generally consist of players who:
- Are new to the sport.
- Have limited playing experience.
- Are returning after a long break.
- Prefer participation and enjoyment over competition.
These leagues focus on learning, improving skills and having fun in a welcoming environment.
If you're looking to meet people, stay active and enjoy social sport without taking it too seriously, Recreational is likely the right fit.
intermediate
Intermediate leagues are designed for players with previous experience who are looking for a more competitive game.
Teams will generally consist of players who:
- Have played the sport previously.
- Understand the rules and game strategy.
- Have developed sport-specific skills.
- Enjoy a higher level of competition.
While games may be more competitive, Urban Rec's FUN First philosophy, Code of Conduct and League Integrity Policy continue to apply.
Choosing the Right Division
Teams should register in the division that best reflects the average skill level of their roster.
If you're unsure which division is right for your team, please contact Urban Rec before registering.
Urban Rec may recommend a different division or move teams between divisions where required to maintain competitive balance.
