👥 What’s the minimum number of players needed to start a game?
You need five players on court per team. At least two must be male and two must be female. The fifth player can be any gender.
🔄 Can we sub players in and out during the game?
Yes! Subs can come on and off at any time. Just make sure they have an Urban Rec account and have signed the online waiver.
⏰ How long are games?
Games run for two 18 minute halves, with a quick break at halftime.
🏃♂️ Can defenders pressure right after a basket?
Nope. After a made basket, defenders must drop back behind halfway before they can start defending again.
⚖️ Who calls fouls during the game?
Players call their own fouls. If there is a disagreement, the Event Host will step in and make the final call.
🏹 When do we shoot free throws?
Only if you are fouled while shooting. That gets you two free throws. All other fouls restart play from the sideline.
🚫 What counts as a foul?
Anything that affects someone’s movement, such as pushing, grabbing, holding, or other types of contact.
🚨 What common rule violations should we know?
Watch out for:
• Back court violations
• Double dribbling
• Travelling
• Lane violations during free throws
• Goaltending
🛡️ How can we keep things fun and safe?
Call fouls early, play with respect, and avoid contact or risky moves. This is all about friendly competition.
🤷♂️ What if players disagree about a call?
Stay cool and talk it through. If needed, the Host can help sort it out. They have the final say.
